Help With Stress Management

Modern society is characterized by an epidemic of stress-related illnesses, including those from psychological (mental) stress, from physical stress, and from chemical stress. Stress has been implicated in conditions ranging from backaches to headaches, from hypertension to chronic degenerative diseases.Stress

In this so-called “age of stress", all of us experience what is referred to as the tension cycle, in which one of the types of stress triggers another type of stress, which may even trigger the third type of stress. All of this can lead to a downward spiral of health and happiness.

In general, mental stressors manifest themselves in your body with symptoms and conditions ranging from knotted muscles to spinal dysfunction. Add to this the fact that your present condition mirrors a lifetime of physical stresses imposed upon your body, and you can see how the tension cycle can negatively affect your lifestyle

Accidents, over-exertion, poor posture, and falls are all physical stresses which may cause your musculoskeletal system to malfunction and irritate the nerves. It is this irritation that produces dysfunction in your body and causes pain and other symptoms to eventually appear.

Chiropractic is a natural for the treatment of stress and stress-related conditions. Chiropractic care helps to break the tension cycle by working to remove the pressure and nerve irritation from the spinal area, thus helping to relieve possibly serious stress-related conditions.

The Chiropractic adjustment, or manipulation, provides many patients with a sense of well-being and relaxation. For an adjustment, the Chiropractor exerts a specific pressure at sites along your spine or at other joints. This will help to relieve muscle tension and improve balance and alignment of the spine, and increase blood circulation throughout your body. This adjustment will also help to free nerves from interferences so that you are better able to respond to stress in a normal, healthy way.

ExerciseExercise is one of the best and most natural methods of stress relief that exists. A Licensed Physical Therapist can evaluate you and instruct you on exercise techniques appropriate to your body’s overall level of conditioning and any specific problems you are experiencing.

You may also want to address some of the chemical stressors that may be contributing to your tension cycle. A simple and inexpensive nutritional analysis will screen your body systems to identify those that are in need of nutritional support. Improving your nutritional intake could help to break the tension cycle by neutralizing some of the effects of the chemical stressors that you are dealing with every day.

In summary, if you are feeling the effects of stress, or if you have unexplained, recurring symptoms, Chiropractic may be able to help you. Chiropractic treatment for stress-related symptoms or conditions, ranging from fatigue and lack of concentration to back pain and headaches, is designed to help your body restore its proper function, and thus make you better able to deal with all the stressors of your hectic life.
